THINK - BELIEVE - IMAGINE - BECOME

DO YOUR OWN THING.

Wether you have stumbled upon our site by chance or have been directed here, welcome to our small corner of the galaxy. We are a place for those who love the Creative Arts. A somewhere for those who play Instruments, Make, Do, Write, Create, Imaginise and Realise . We recognise the effort and commitment it takes to follow a passion and work at a dream.
Shack Entertainment & The Live Exchange is another door to the stage. Our aim is not to simply be another “Site”,but a gathering place for those with one thing in common. A love for the creative arts and a desire to make something on the fringe that actually works for those on the fringe. We aim to have a relevance a lot more beyond music and include the day to day aspects of the creatives process alongside the existence we share with the eyes and ears of the end goal. . We are not aiming to be all things to all people, we are just doing our own thing.

Before the Music dies.

Not all artists will hit the big time, no guarantees come with the choice of a career in the creative arts. Most if not all artists know this, but yet this is what they choose in the singular hope of making it pay enough to keep doing so. This however in most cases is not the reality that awaits the majority of artists. Part time jobs to supplement a living or a full time job and part time creativity to feed the need.
For those who are content with the status quo and playing dead end venues with no discernable benefit to a career path, the end road of the covers or tribute band awaits. An example is the tsunami of covers and tribute acts, that is down to the lack of a healthy and vibrant ground floor infrastructure centered around new live music. It may be that venues dont know covers artists also have their own material. So called small music venues no longer exist, but an illusion that we have one has imprinted a belief on our consciousness that all is well. What is said here can be transposed to any of the other creative disciplines such as the painters struggle for space with the Gallery giants.
Live music is simply an after thought for all bars these days. While being the most accessible of all the disciplines, it is simply an excercise in increasing takings during a slump, with a stipulation that you can only play cover songs or be a tribute act. No drums allowed because it upsets the gastro punters and the neighbours. A lick of paint, some fancy grahics on new menus and an A board  saying “LIVE MUSIC HERE MON – WEDNESDAY”are what it takes to call a place a live venue. No live music on thursday to saturday because those are not our quiet days. We get in a DJ for those nights.
